This weekend at TEDx Houston, I was reminded how much connection matters. Watching my new friend Evan Marks take the stage and share his message was powerful and intentional. Moments like that reinforce why proximity to thoughtful, brave leaders matters.

I was also grateful to run into my longtime friend Greg Scheinman, someone I’ve grown alongside for years and who continues to change lives through Midlife Male Ventures.

Most goals don’t disappear, they stall and show up on our resolutions list year after year.

Because wanting to reach a goal isn’t the same as going after it.

Real change begins when commitment outweighs excuses. When you stop waiting for clarity or confidence and start moving anyway. Wishful thinking or dreaming does not make it happen, it is the conscious choice after you have decided that 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡.

It's not about constant motivation. It’s about discipline. It’s about making the hard calls, doing the hard work, letting go of what’s comfortable, and taking action even when the path isn’t in sight.

Momentum is built intentionally, consistently, one disciplined action at a time.

People romanticize resilience and they fall in love of the idea of it.

Time is the only asset you don’t get more of and for executives, business owners, and professionals, how you invest it determines everything.

I’m ruthless about my calendar. Not because I’m busy but because I’m intentional.

As a present single mother running a business, leading teams, coaching executives and building opportunity, I don’t have the luxury of wasted rooms, misaligned conversations, or energy draining environments. Every room I walk into has to earn my time. Every meeting has to move the needle. Every relationship has to elevate thinking, execution, or impact.

Here’s the truth most people avoid. Not all rooms are created equal. Some rooms cost you momentum. Others compound it.

High performers don’t ask, Am I invited?
They ask, Is this room aligned with where I’m going?

The most advantageous rooms challenge your thinking, expand your network, sharpen your standards, and accelerate results. They make you better not busier.

Time discipline is leadership discipline. When you respect your time, others do too. When you choose the right rooms, you change your trajectory.

I don’t say this theoretically. I live it daily. And if you’re serious about growth, protect your time like the strategic asset it is.

The Women of Gen Z: (& as a whole)

Gen Z women aren’t trading motherhood for some big alternative mission. They’re choosing flexibility, autonomy, financial control, and mental well-being and science now gives them the option to have kids later, if they want them at all.

They’re also done with the idea that one job or one identity defines their life. Gen Z as a whole builds portfolio lives, a blend of career moves, side projects, digital influence, creativity, micro-communities, and travel.

Their identity evolves as they grow, not because a traditional timeline tells them to.

This is the “friendship era.” With marriage delayed and parenthood optional, close friendships become the emotional anchor. You see roommate partnerships, travel crews, co-living setups, connection built on choice, not obligation.

When it comes to work, Gen Z is unapologetically selective. They want leaders who care, teams that bond, cultures that include, mentors who invest, and a workplace where they feel like they belong.

Retention:
Healthy team = long tenure.
Toxic team = immediate exit.
They walk away from bad managers faster than any generation we’ve ever measured.

This generation demands relational leadership, not command-and-control. They want community, coaching, and real development.

Several weeks ago, it hit me.......a moment of clarity that connected every chapter of my career.

There are seasons in life where parts of us don’t make it through, the version that doubted, that settled, that stayed quiet just to keep peace. But what comes after is someone who carries purpose, clarity, and strength that was earned through the fire.

I’m not who I was, and I’m grateful for that.

Now, my purpose is stronger than ever - to empower those who choose to rise, to grow, to become more than they thought they could be. Because healing and finding your purpose isn’t about becoming who you were again… it’s about becoming who you were always meant to be.
